About Northside Karate Handed down. Built up.
Northside Karate is the life's work of Grand Master D.E. Chambers: a karate system he formed in 1994, a school he opened in 1995, and the North Houston families who have trained with him ever since.
The story
From Beaumont to North Houston.
Grand Master Chambers began training in Beaumont, Texas, in 1979. Thirteen years later he started training under Master Fred Simon, and two years after that he formed a system of his own.

What we live by
The Five Virtues.
“The five virtues are not rules for the dojo. They are guidelines for how we live our lives day to day.” Here is how NSK defines each one.
-
Discipline
Doing what is right even if it's not what you want to do nor what comes easily.
-
Respect
The courteous treatment of those who have authority over you including your parents, teachers, and elders.
-
Attitude
The right attitude means being positive and enthusiastic even in negative circumstances.
-
Self-Assurance
A strong belief in oneself, that you can do anything; confidence.
-
and most of allHonesty
Telling the truth and also making sure that those around you are honest as well.
Bigger than a dojo
A school for the community.
“Perhaps the most profound thing a Black Belt can do for his community is to own and operate a martial arts school.”The North Side Karate Student Handbook
That line is the mission. NSK brings the dojo to schools across Houston, honors a Student and a Parent of the Month, and celebrates its families at rank tests, tournaments and birthdays all year long.
- A.O.K. school. Students compete with the Amateur Organization of Karate, the oldest open sport karate tournament sanctioning organization in Texas.
- Six styles, one system. Tae Kwon Do at the base, with Judo, Free Style Karate, Shotokan, Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do.
