Inside a kids class
Bow in. Line up. Make it happen.
Every class opens and closes with a bow to the flags and the instructor. Commands are called in Korean, the forms come from the Tae Kwon Do base of the North Side Karate System, and the Five Virtues are the rules of the road: Discipline, Respect, Attitude, Self-Assurance, and most of all Honesty.
- Grouped by skill. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, so every child gets attention at their level.
- Black belt instructors. Instructors in training work the floor beside them.
- Sparring when it's time. Sparring classes run from beginner to advanced, in proper headgear.
- Respect is the rule. At NSK, an instructor is never called by first name.

Rank tests are a big day at NSK. Families pack the dojo, kids show what they have earned, and a new belt gets tied on.

For kids who want more
Room to compete.
NSK is an A.O.K. school. Students who want to test themselves can join the Competition Team and travel the tournament circuit across Texas and beyond, with the whole dojo cheering from the stands.
One NSK junior black belt has been AOK State Champion five years in a row. Competing is a choice, never a requirement. The belts, the friends and the Five Virtues are reason enough to train.
